Description
This photo is a 23-minute fisheye exposure looking directly at the rebel North Star (Polaris) which, unlike it's celestial comrades, refuses to testify to the Earth's rotation.
On the evening of 8/25/2008, I drove to the booming metropolis of Gilead, Indiana to meet a Flickr friend I made several months ago, Michael Sarver (see About - Other Sites). He and his wife are good people, and he's one heck of a talented photographer.
We had an awesome conversation about everything from Photography to Christianity and back, then stood out in the yard for a good hour shooting photos of the stunning night sky.

Just practicing for the conversation I'm about to have with my wife! Top notch, brother! Well executed and timed...

I won't push the issue, though, I am about to drop some coin on the D90!
I love how you can see the big dipper down and to the left of the center too.
This is just awesome, can't wait to see more of your photos so keep up the good work.
...this advice brought to you by your friendly neighborhood bachelor :o)
Michael, you were there, so you know as well as I do that the "timing" was more about a lucky guess than any actual calculation. After a few trial runs I figured twenty minutes wouldn't overdo it.
What did Sara say about the lens?
Also, for anyone else reading this, Michael has posted a good star photo taken at the same time this was. Click his name to go to his blog.
@JShef: I never noticed that the Big Dipper was discernible in the pic, good eye! Thanks for the compliment. With any luck there will be new content daily, or close thereto. Thanks for checking it out.
